Title: The Lives of Animals
Author: J. M. Coetzee et al.
Publisher: Princeton University Press
Printing Year: 1999 Signed first printing

Condition/Details: Bound in brown cloth with dustjacket in glassine cover, this volume is a scarce presentation in fiction of a discussion of animal rights. This fable by South African writer Coetzee was presented as a Tanner Lecture sponsored by the University Center for Human Values at Princeton University. This text is followed by the responses of leading thinkers in different fields, thus offering us in addition to the fictional text essays by religion scholar Wendy Doniger, primatologist Barbara Smuts, literary theorist Marjorie Garber, and moral philosopher Peter Singer. Coetzee's lecture is introduced by political philosopher Amy Gutman. The volume is solidly bound with clean, bright pages. The book measures approximately 6.5" x 9.5" and contains 127 pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50
