Condition/Details: Bound in blue cloth with gilt embossing to spine, this volume is a scarce signed copy of this Pulitzer Prize-winning anthology of the author's work. This collection of 19 short stories and novellas includes texts that had not previously been published. Dustjacket blurb quotes Cyril Connolly of London Times: "This is an original talent, a sensitive Southern writer who stands in time somewhere between Willa Cather and the Carson MacCullers Eudora Welty group, with something of Faulkner's understanding of the Southern petit bourgeosie and also his ribald sense of fun." The preliminary page inscription reads: "For John and Susan Winslow with pleasantest wishes for their long happy (illegible word). Katherine Anne Porter/ Washington D.C./ April 10, 1968 "It doth make a difference whence cometh a man's joy" St. Augustine". The volume is in fine condition, and is solidly bound with clean pages. Dustjacket is in glassine cover. The book measures approximately 6" x 8.75" and contains 495 pages.
