Condition/Details: Bound in limp brown cloth threaded with maroon closing ribbons and bright gilt embossing to front and spine, this antique volume is a scarce, very well-preserved original edition of the Italian writer's dramatic recreation of the story of , originally banned due to .The text is printed in red and black on hand-made paper and is illustrated with several full-page color drawings in art-nouveau style by Adolfo de Carolis. The volume shows light external age/wear, and is solidly bound with clean pages. The book measures approximately 7.25" x 9.5" and contains 290 pages.
