Condition/Details: Bound in green illustrated boards, this antique volume is possible the scarcest of all of the English cartoonist's illustrated books . This fanciful children's book contains numerous examples of the late-Victorian author's comic genius. All the illustrations are present, consisting of a color frontispiece of the title character, 50 black and white plates depicting him in his adventures, and in-text drawings throughout. The volume lacks spine, front board is detached, and is without front free endpaper. Embossed boards still have bright color, with only some loss to white lettering. Textblock is loose but still intact. Inscription to previous owner appears on a preliminary page. The book measures approximately 6.5" x 8.25" and contains pages.
