Description
CHAIR. Unusual oak Charles II style rocker after an original at Warwick Castle dated 1639, created later, last half of the 18th. century, the chair back crowned with an armorial with six crosses and framed by the date 1607, below is a sculptural scene of two men beseeching a Lord in a castle hall, carved underneath are the words "Althea Howard, Countess of Arundel nd Surrie" (1585-1654), together with a print of Thomas Howard after Van Dyck who was Lord Arundel married to Alethea together with a second print of Jacobus I after Van Dyck, good condition, loss to back, 24" w x 28" d x 41" h.
