Description
TALL CLOCK. English Mahogany tall clock with moonphase, calendar, second, minute and hour, the case has a scrolled pediment top inset with painted glass above an arched glass door framed with columns, the lower case is set with two burlwood coffered doors, above the face of the clock is a circular moonphase painted with the moon, a ship and the phrase "time shines the way of lilies decay", the clock face is engraved with florals and framed with scrollwork, marked Jn. Clifton, Liverpool, Clifton was active at 14 Fazakerley St., Liverpool from 1785-1790, very good condition, 23" w x 10 5/8" d x 90" t.
