Maria Martinez, San Ildefonso Potter: Displaying Her Wares & Building the Fire.

Vintage gelatin silver prints. c1920s. Printed c1920s. Both Images: 3 13/16 x 2 15/16 in. (97 x 75 mm). Maria was the premier pottery maker from San Ildefonso Pueblo. She studied classic ancient pottery of the region and incorporated classic traditional and pre-historic design motifs in the painting design. She later specialized in her famous blackware pottery.
