Dutch Bottom Great Pipe

The Dutch Bottom Great Pipe. In the early 1960's, while surface hunting a plowed field in the Dutch Bottoms ofCocke Co., TN, Mr. Dan Francis of Chestnut Hill, TN found this great pipe. (See photo page 1.) The pipe is made from green steatite and is approximately 6" x 8". This is quite an unusual style when you compare it to some of the other great pipes found in East Tennessee. (Note the block head design.) This pipe was restored by Dennis Bushey Several photos will be provided showing what the pipe looked like before the restoration took place. Rarely do we have an opportunity to offer a great pipe. For years the Dutch Bottom great pipe was the highlight of Mr. Francis's collection.
