(b. Russia 1863). Watercolor on paper. 18" w x 24"h. Frame is 23" w x 28.5" h. Excellent condition. Est. $1,000-2,000. Ship: $40. Borchert was an illustrator of Russian folk tales. According to the consignor, Borchert gave the paintings to an American businessman, prior to WWI in substitute payment for a debt and immigrated to the U.S. In the 1920s, the consignor's father was the European representative for the Central Hanover Bank of NY, and while there, these pictures were given to him. The banker past them to his son, the consignor, in 1952.

Excellent condition.
