Seven sewing implements: one-drawer sewing box, pincushion top with holes for interior spools of thread, [separations and losses,] 6-1/4 x 7 x 5-1/2 in.; clamp-on pincushion, 8-1/4 in., [loss to tip of hook]; turned wood needle case, 4 in.; egg-shaped case, possibly horn, 1-5/8 in.; circular thread case with lithograph of Sterling Castle on lid, six thread receptacles, English, 2-1/2 x 4-1/4 in.; folk art inlaid hook, walnut or mahogany with small geometric inlay and panel marked "M Allen Forget Me Not", probably a sailor's gift, possibly for weaving or netting, 7 in.; turned wood thimble holder with brass thimble, 2-1/4 in. Good condition. Provenance: Private Collection, Flat Rock, North Carolina. Folk art inlaid hook is probably knitting sheath with a slot for apron strings and a hole to hold the knitting needle. The implement would be worn at the waist and would keep the stitches from slipping off the bottom of the double-ended needle.
