Pair Portuguese Colonial tables: Chippendale corner tables, each with dovetailed drawer, mahogany with pine rails, pierce-carved applied skirts, boldly formed cabriole legs with ball-and-claw feet, possibly Canary Islands Portuguese Colonial, 18th/19th century, 25-3/4 x 35-3/4 x 24 in. Refinished, extensive pest damage to secondary woods, bottoms of feet fitted with later blocks, tops reset with later screws, cracks and separations, other repairs and restorations throughout. Provenance: An early label on the inside rail of one table indicates that these tables were "Bought by Edw. Dob..(?) in 1860 in Tenerife(?) Canary Islands from English Residents who were returning to England
