Charleston gold pocket watch, enameled face and works marked "Jas. Allan/Charleston, S. C.", [cracks in face,] 18 kt. yellow gold engraved and black enamel case, No 14253, "MGM" monogram on case, 2-1/4 x 1-58 in. Minor wear, working at time of inspection. The 1880 U.S. Census lists a James Allen on Rutledge Street, a jeweler born in Scotland.
