Charleston, South Carolina jug, salt glazed stoneware with cobalt decoration, 2 gallons, marked "Follin & Fourgeaud, Charleston S.C.", above a cobalt flourish,12-3/4 in. Large rim chip, normal wear and abrasions base with florist gum residue. Provenance: Private Collection, Asheville, North Carolina [1854 South Carolina Business Directory and General Commercial Advertiser,] (John Paul Cambell, Walker and James Press), lists Follin and Fourgeaud wholesale and retail dealers in groceries, wine, liquers, teas, segars [sic], and tobacco, southwest corner of Meeting and Market Streets (pg. 366).
