North Carolina blanket chest, walnut with poplar secondary, hinged top with interior till, original hinges and feet, front facings and molding with traces original ebonizing, Piedmont, North Carolina, attributed to Henry Heitman, Northern Davidson County, 19th century, candle box with illegible chalk inscriptions (J. William(?)), 24-3/4 x 43-1/2 x 19 in. Excellent original condition, dry surface with water stains and some fading, original feet with some blocking, minor losses to spurs on feet, scattered cracks, molding losses, some warping to top, surface abrasions. Provenance: Bought in Midway, North Carolina, at estate auction that included Heitman family papers, Property of Nathan and Jean Harsh The 1850 census for Davidson County records Henry Heitman as a cabinetmaker.
