Highly inlaid Federal chest, figured walnut veneers with poplar secondary, fan and barberpole inlaid top over four graduated drawers with line inlay and teardrop escutcheons, flanked by husk, grapevine and flowerpot inlaid canted corners, original French feet and inlaid skirt, probably Virginia or Maryland, early 19th century, 40 x 41-1/2 x 22 in. Refinished, brasses replaced, original feet and some blocking with scattered repairs, rear side facings pieced approximately 1 in. and some later blocking, scattered veneer and inlay repairs.
