Fine trapunto bed cover, central diamond with flower basket within a square, surrounded by undulating feather pattern separating baskets and urns of flowers, birds, Maltese crosses, conjoining sacred hearts and harp, border panels on all four sides, bottom corners cut for poster bed, elaborate fringe work on three sides, cotton with linen backing, all hand stitched, possibly Continental, possibly Italian, late 18th/early 19th century, 102 x 62 in. Overall good condition, discoloration to outer border panels possibly due to variations in fabrics, several areas of repair, fringe probably added later, possibly reduced. Provenance: Found in Williamsburg, Virginia; Private Collection, Flat Rock, North Carolina
