Elliott Daingerfield painting (New York/Blowing Rock, North Carolina, 1859-1932), label verso "Could Ye Not Watch With Me One Hour", titled derived from Matthew 24:40, infant with angel, unsigned, 24 x 34 in.; late 19th/early 20th century gilt wood and composition frame. Restretched on newer stretcher, some crackle, cupping and cleavage, canvas slightly loose, some yellowing of varnish; frame with abrasions. Provenance: Collection of the artist; Private Collection, Asheville, North Carolina Exhibition label verso, National Academy of Design, with title, address, listed owner as being Anna G. Daingerfield; Lotus Club, New York City, 1896.
