Five instruments: K&E alidade, folding sights, marked "Gurley & Capps", 10 in., leather case; K&E adjust level, patented January 1918, 5 in., with case; K&E pocket compass with sights, back marked "Forest Service", 4 x 4 in., [slight abrasions]; Sargent portable scales, brass mounts, adjusts to 12 in., in fitted wooden case, probably for measuring specific gravity, glass thermometer, [broken tip]; with brass alidade 10 in, marks for Universtiy of Wisconsin "Mechanical Dept.". All in good condition except as noted. Provenance: The Collection of the Late Ronald Kiser, Mars Hill, North Carolina
