Burgundy cloth over marbled boards, spine lettered in gilt, decorative endpapers. Condition: joints neatly repaired, unobtrusive rubber stamps to title page and blank. Provenance: Boris Pavlovich Voinarskii as printed on the frontispiece. presentation copy inscribed in ink by the author on the title page and dated february 10, 1939. This memoir of the great opera singer draws on the author's close friendship with Chaliapin.
