An Arts and Crafts necklace, by Edward Steel Harper, designed as a white metal pendant formed as ivy leaves, within a radiating 'stamen' surround and set with six opals, suspended from a delicate white metal chain, unmarked Provenance: By repute; made by the artist as a gift for the current vendors mother. Note: Edward Steel Harper (1878-1951) was a product of the Birmingham School of Art. Artists were encouraged to work in many different media including wall painting, miniatures, stained glass and embroidery. Edward Steel Harper was elected a member of the Birmingham School in 1915 and was an accomplished landscape painter and a skilled craftsman in both wood and metal.
