Title: Eighteenth Century New York Liquor License
Author: Duane, James, Mayor Description: 2 partially printed documents completed by hand, matted and framed with an engraved portrait of Mayor James Duane. Overall 22¾x12¼".Documents issuing an license to "keep an Inn or Tavern, to retail strong Liquors". The first (5½x7") issued and signed by Abraham P. Lott, Commisioner of Excise, dated February 1, 1784; the second (5x6½") by Mayor James Duane, dated March 6, 1784. The tavern was located at No. 17 Morris Street and was operated by Alexander Frazer.
