Title: Two ledgers recording earnings of Steam Tugs on the San Francisco Bay
Author: Shipowners' and Merchants' Tugboat Company Description: Two large ledger books, approximately 17x15¼, original calf and cloth.Account books for this San Francisco based tugboat operator showing a daily record of the activities and monies earned for their fleet of tugs. The first volume spans the period of May, 1908 to March, 1909; the second from April 1911 to June, 1913. The S.O. & M.T.B. Co. tug 'Hercules' has been designated a national historic landmark and is presently berthed at the Hyde Street Pier in the San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park and has been restored to operable condition and frequently steams the bay with a volunteer crew.
