Second edition.Mitchell was the surveyor general of New South Wales as well as one of the leading explorers of the interior of Australia. Between 1831 and 1838 he led three expeditions into the interior of southeastern Australia, exploring the Darling and Murray rivers and the lands of what is now Victoria. Ferguson 2811; Wantrup 125.
