Title: Japanese Imperial Army Map of Japan from Meiji period
Author: ** Description: Color woodblock map. 122x115 cm. (48x45¼"), folding into covers, 7½x5 when folded.Large and very precise map of Japan from the original maps by the Tadataka Ino , which were first produced for the Shogun in 1838. The Japanese Imperial Army used Tadataka Ino Maps until 1924. The map shows Tokyo, Osaka , Kyoto, Nagasaki, Hiroshima, Nagoya, all of the Japanese Islands including the Kirrel Islands North of Hokkaido which the Russians annexed at the end of the World War II. The Map is printed on Japanese Washi Paper. Tadataka Ino Maps are considered very rare as the entire Japanese collection of his maps kept at the Imperial place in Tokyo were destroyed by fire around 1900.
