Edward Teller, 1908–2003, was an Hungarian-born American physicist who helped develop the atomic bomb and provided the theoretical framework for the hydrogen bomb. He was also rumored to be an inspiration for "Dr. Strangelove," the mad scientist in the 1964 Stanley Kubrick film of the same name.
