1798 New York Bill of Exchange For Amsterdam

January 31, 1798, NY, Second Bill of Exchange payable in Amsterdam, Choice About Uncirculated.
5" x 10.25," trivial hole at left, nice and bright, with large margins and an impressive, oversized appearance. Partially printed and completed in manuscript. This was the Second bill of Exchange (the first apparently having been lost) payable for 270 Guilden and 18 Stivers in Amsterdam. Paper watermarked: "Eadmends $ Pine, 1795".

Dutch bills of exchange were very scarce at this time because the French had captured and blockaded the Netherlands, thus limiting the amount of commerce possible between the U.S. and the Netherlands.
