Massachusetts Mercury, April 17, 1798, Vol. 11, No. 31, 19" x 12", Printed by Young & Minns, 4 pp. supplement. Page 1 has a long letter from Harrison G. Otis to William Heath regarding relations with France, and mention of the "XYZ" affair, Genet, and other matters. Also includes two copies of the "Independent Chronicle and Universal Advertiser," May 15 & May 22, 1777, 15.5" x 9.75" each, general toning, tears to front pages, and separations, some clipping to mastheads of "Chronicle." Interesting report from Philadelphia about regulating "Pay of the Army". Also, fascinating notices of several "desertions" of soldiers and Negro servants, and assorted advertisements of the Revolutionary War era. Lot sold "as is."
