1856 Benjamin Franklin Statue Commemorative Ribbon Boston's First Public Portrait Statue September 17, 1856 Commemorative Silk Ribbon Benjamin Franklin Statue Dedication, Very Fine. This original, black print on red silk ribbon, was produced for the dedication of the Franklin Statue at Boston, Mass in the year 1856. It is in overall nice shape, 2" x 6", and has some very minor fading. Erected in 1856, the 8-foot tall bronze Statue of Benjamin Franklin, by Richard S. Greenough, is Boston's first public portrait statue. It is located in front of Boston's Old City Hall. A scarce, historic ribbon with a wonderful oval portrait of Franklin at center.
