Puritan Spinning Thread Hooked-Wool Stair Tread c. 1930s, Colorful Hooked-Wool on Burlap Stair Tread with Colonial Figure Spinning Thread, Choice Extremely Fine. This exceptional hooked-rug stair tread, measuring approximately 7" x 27" long, depicts a colonial woman in distinctive "Puritan" garb--black dress, white cap and large white collar; as she spins red "thread" her black cat watches her; the scene includes a black rocking chair, a large red and blue rug, a window, door, and grey and plum backdrop, with dark blue and green end borders.
