Scarce Edward Vom Hofe Model 484 Col. Thompson Hand Made German Silver and Hard Rubber Salmon Reel. Introduced in 1925, this 3:1 ratio reel has a 3 1/8" dia. and a 1 1/2" wide spool. The tail plate housed a Perfection style drag system with indicator dots and adjustable oil cap. The spool is constructed with a brass arbor and aluminum sides, with the remaining parts all of German silver. The hard rubber head plate and tail plate have minor surface imperfections, including what looks to be an extra pillar hole, professionally repaired. With head plate sliding click, serial number Z329 marked foot and shouldered pillars, in very good plus condition and a scarce reel, produced only from 1925 to 1928. *Information from "The Celebrated Reels of Edward Vom Hofe" by Ted Bingham.
