Chautauqua Weedless Trolling Hook. Patented by Krantz & Smith on August 31, 1909, is this incredible early bait. Measuring 4 1/4" when fully extended, rigged with 2 spring loaded single hooks, copper and brass body with detailed scales, tail, and cone shaped head with red painted eyes. Condition is about Ex- with the original red thread wrapping showing wear and fraying, some red paint loss on the eyes, and a small amount of tarnishing on the tail and line tie. The Chautauqua Minnow, distributed by Anderson & Co of Jamestown, NY, is considered by most serious collectors to be one of the top 10 greatest fishing lures of all time.
