He was one of the most pre-eminent performers in the era before the American Civil War. The work is illustrated with a tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait and many plates. Gilt facsimile of Rice's writing and signature on the front cover: Truly Yours, Dan Rice. The volume shows light external age/wear,with some soiling, and is solidly bound with clean pages.
