Condition/Details: Bound in green cloth with bright gilt embossing, this antique volume is a scarce biography of American entertainer of many talents, most famous for his work as a clown. He was one of the most pre-eminent performers in the era before the American Civil War. The work is illustrated with a tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait and many plates. Gilt facsimile of Rice's writing and signature on the front cover: Truly Yours, Dan Rice. The volume shows light external age/wear,with some soiling, and is solidly bound with clean pages. The book measures approximately 6.25" x 9.5" and contains 501 pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50
