Condition/Details: Bound in terra cotta cloth with bright gilt embossing, this antique volume is a scarce Civil War history containing an account of the infamous Southern prison. The work is illustrated with a frontispiece offering "View from the North Gate when the Prison contained 35,000 Prisoners. Drawn from Rebel photographs in possession of the Author.", as well as numerous in-text drawings. The spine has a 4.5" tear along front gutter, and fraying along opposite gutter.
