Condition/Details: Bound in terra cotta cloth with bright gilt embossing, this antique volume is a scarce Civil War history containing an account of the infamous Southern prison. The work is illustrated with a frontispiece offering "View from the North Gate when the Prison contained 35,000 Prisoners. Drawn from Rebel photographs in possession of the Author.", as well as numerous in-text drawings. The spine has a 4.5" tear along front gutter, and fraying along opposite gutter. Binding is somewhat shaken with clean pages. The book measures approximately 6.25" x 9" and contains 654 pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50
