Condition/Details: Bound in blindstamped cloth with gilt embossing, this antique volume is a scarce local reference work for the area in upstate New York that includes the towns of Avon, Conesus, Geneseo, Groveland, Leicester, Lima, Livonia, Mt. Morris, North Dansville, Nunda, Ossian, Portage, Sparta, Springwater, West Sparta, and York. The work contains numerous full-page advertisements for local businesses, and is illustrated with an engravings showing the Dansville Seminary and Nunda Academy. A fold-out table of distances is attached at the rear. The volume shows external age/wear, and is solidly bound with age-toned pages. Previous owners' signatures and stamps are present on front endpaper and a preliminary page. The book measures approximately 6" x 8.75" and contains 244 pages. This lot is part of a large collection of books and ephemera that we will be selling over the coming months, from the estate of Lewis E. Shuman, long-time collector from Rochester, New York.
