In this poster, a young woman in overalls standing before a blue triangle holds up in her hands a biplane and a projectile. This poster was produced as part of the United War Work Campaign which brought together seven organizations--the YMCA, the YWCA, the American Library Association, the War Camp Community Service, the Knights of Columbus, the Jewish Welfare Board, and the Salvation Army--into one large funding drive charged with raising over $170 million for the war in 1918. In a public address in 1917, John D. Rockefeller described the War Work Campaign as "the greatest voluntary altruistic endeavor the world has ever known. For the first time in history, people of Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant faith are standing side by side and working in closest cooperation for a great common cause."
