Publisher: Derby and Miller (Auburn); Derby, Orton and Mulligan (Buffalo) Printing Year: 1853 Condition/Details: Bound in blindstamped cloth with gilt embossing, this antique volume is a scarce early slave narrative. It contains the following dedication: "To Harriet Beecher Stowe: whose name, throughout the world, is identified with the Great Reform: this narrative, affording another key to Uncle Tom's Cabin, is respectfully dedicated." The work is illustrated with a number of plates. The volume shows external age/wear, and is solidly bound with pages showing foxing throughout.. The book measures approximately 5.5" x 7.75" and contains 336 pages. This lot is part of a large collection of books and ephemera that we will be selling over the coming months, from the estate of Lewis E. Shuman, long-time collector from Rochester, New York.
