Title: A Magician in Many Lands
Author: Charles Bertram
Publisher: George Routledge & Sons, Limited
Printing Year: 1911

Condition/Details: Bound in maroon cloth with gilt embossing, this antique volume is a scarce account of the author's journey around the world. The introduction by Professor Louis Hoffmann states: " Charles Bertram was not only a keen observer, but enjoyed opportunities of observation denied to ninety-nine travellers out of a hundred. His exceptional skill in his fascinating craft, his popularity as a popular entertainer, and his personal good-fellowship had made for him a host of friends, and probably no man ever started on a journey round the world more amply provided with letters of recommendation to the four quarters of the globe." Among the cities visited and described by Bertram are Port Said, Bombay, Calcutta, Lucknow, Canton, Yokohama, San Francisco, Montreal, Chicago, New York. The work is illustrated with many photographs. The volume shows light external age/wear, with spine lettering now faded, and is solidly bound with clean pages. The book measures approximately 5.75" x 8" and contains 315 pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $4.50
