Title: The Great Locomotive Chase: A History of the Andrews Railroad Raid into Georgia in 1862
Author: William Pittenger Publisher: Jones and Stanley Printing Year: 1893 Condition/Details: Bound in brown cloth with pictorial front cover and spine under bright gilt lettering, this antique volume is a scarce account of the Civil War Union forces known as the Andrew's raiders and their raid into Georgia in 1862. This is the fourth edition of this work offering "considerable new matter, such as the account of the Ohio monument and the history of the Andrews Raiders to date. New illustrations also have been added. The greatest improvement, however, has been made by fusing into the continuous story all the additional material which had accumulated during the past thirty-one years, thus doing away with the cumbrous supplement of former editions." The book thus contains many plates and in-text illustrations, as well as maps. The volume shows light external age/wear. Hinges are cracked. Marble-edged pages are bright, with some light spotting. The book measures approximately 7" x 9.25" and contains 490 pages. Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $6.50 ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
