The wood engravings of Frank Martin, one of 22 exemplary copies with 8 extra engravings printed from the blocks by David Esslemont, each of these signed (like the main colophon) D/u, in wrappers, the main text with numerous illustrations, bound in full citron morocco, black morocco spine, [by Christopher Hicks], front cover blocked with a pensive girl in black, taken from an unpublished drawing of the artist, together in original clamshell box, grey boards, with printed label, Previous Parrot Press, Church Hanborough, 1998.***The colophon does not mention these super specials, however the prospectus calls for 22 of them, of which 4 were to be bound by David Esslemont. Dennis Hall kindly confirmed the number, and stated that , having run out of numbers, they used letters for limitation, this being No.4 (=D)of the 18 Hicks bound copies and 21(=u) of the 22 with the extra plates..
