Bleeck (Katie) Four autograph manuscript volumes: Millie and Hermie, vol.1, title-page, pp. 1-176, and 7 watercolour plates, 1861; Herbert and Millie, vol. 2, title-page, pp. 1-244, 3 pp. advertisements, and 7 watercolour plates, 1861; Millie Vernon, vol. 4, title-page, [pp. 1-191], and 4 watercolour plates, 1862; Archie Melville, title-page, [pp. 1-334], and 4 watercolour plates, 1863, one plate in each vol. inserted as frontispiece, original half cloth or blind-tooled cloth, 32mo (approximately 90mm. by 55mm.), Hewish Rectory, 1861-1863.***The illustrations and bindings in these volumes appear to be entirely the work of the young author. The stories have been carefully written in the style of contemporary fiction. In all but the second volume each chapter starts with a quotation from "The Little Pilgrim", "The Last Rose of Summer", Cowper, "Excelsior", "Marmion" and other sources, some such as "Pride Mortified" or the "Versification of Holy Matrimony" by the author.
