Evans written in brown ink and dated "Jan. 1869" on half-title, endpapers a little foxed, original blue pictorial cloth, gilt, g.e., rebacked preserving original spine, rubbed, preserved in modern cloth drop-back box, [Crutch 69], 8vo, 1869.

***Dodgson refers to Evans and his wife several times in his diaries. He also photographed them in 1868..
