Farneti (Carlo).- Poe (Edgar Allan) Tales of Mystery and Imagination, publisher 'mock-up', roughly drafted in manuscript, half-title, statement of limitation, etc., with pasted in aquatints by Farneti from the French edition illustrated by him, contempoarary cloth, housed in cloth fold-over box, 4to, The Richards Press Ltd., [c.1938].***In pencil on the front paste-down there is an explanatory note from the original owner, one Dr. George Osborne Mitchell, "This book was never published. The Richards Press handed this copy to John Austen who agreed to illustrate the work with linocuts to fit the spaces, the type having been set up [deletion] to suit the projected illustrations by Carlo Farneti ( The project of his illustrating the book not, for some reason, materializing.) Then came the war of 1939, so that John Austen never illustrated it either. This may be the only copy, and it was given to me by John Austen at Rose Cottage on May 1st. 1946. G.G.Michell"..
