Agnes Martin (1912-2004) on a clear day fifteen silkscreens from the set of 30 printed in gray, 1973, each signed in pencil, eleven numbered 3/50, four numbered 44/50, Printed by Domberger, Germany, Published by Parasol Press Ltd., New York, on Japan, with full margins, in good condition, each sheet 304 x 304mm; 12 x 12 inches. (15)***On a Clear Day is Agnes Martin's seminal graphic work. The portfolio was constructed towards the end of a painstaking seven year period, during which she isolated herself in the Mexican desert, in an attempt to hide from the fame and notoriety she had acquired in New York. The title itself expresses the freedom that she found on her personal journey to re-discover the truth in her art, in her own words she declared "My work is anti-nature,...[It] is about emotion - not personal emotion [but] abstract emotion. It's about those subtle moments of happiness we all experience.". ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
