Publisher's brown half morocco gilt, upper cover with gilt design of hummigbirds. Condition: binding slightly scuffed, front free endpaper splitting towards the inner margin. Albany: printed by Carroll & Cook, 1844. 4to (288 x 233 mm). 141 hand-colored lithographic plates by Endicott of New York after J.W. Hill. Original dark brown cloth, blocked in gilt and blind. Condition: text spotted, first and last plates browned, discoloration to plates 84 and 85, some others with offsetting from facing text, generally light; extremities rubbed and chipped, spine somewhat faded. Provenance: C. Swan (New York, note, dated March 1855, tipped onto verso of plate 118); Lynn Abbott Trust..
