Cassel: Theodor Fischer, 1878-1883. Folio (356 x 270mm). 33 lithographic plates, printed in colors and finished by hand, by and after Gustav Mützel. Original green cloth-backed boards with cloth tips, letterpress title on upper cover. Condition: spotting to title, the first 3 plates and their accompanying text leaves, plate 8 with small dampstain to outer blank margin, some other light spotting; joints split, spine chipped, covers somewhat discolored and with small tears paper on covers, inner hinges split, the front free endpaper almost detached. Provenance: F.C. Erbesmehl ("importer of live stock", London, ink stamp on title); Hubert Astley (Brinsop Court, Hereford, inscription, aviculturalist); Lynn Abbott Trust. an attractive work on parrots from the library of a renowned british aviculturalist.
