Le Spectacle de Nature, ou, Entretiens sur les particularités de l'histoire naturelle qui ont paru les plus propres à rendre les jeunes-gens curieux, & à leur former l'esprit. Paris : Frères Estienne, 1754-1764-1755. 8 volumes in 9, 12mo (163 x 97 mm). 9 engraved frontispieces, 201 engraved plates, 165 folding. Contemporary French mottled calf, spines in six compartments with raised bands, red morocco lettering-pieces in the second and third compartments, the others with repeat decoration in gilt, marbled endpapers. Condition: small split to the plate facing p.145 in vol.III, occasional creasing, light soiling and small tears to the outer margins of about eight folding plates, vol.III with ink-stain to outer margins of leaves from X1 to the end, stain to upper margins of vol.IV and part of vol.V; small chip to head of spine of vol.I, slight damage to the upper edge of the covers on vol.IV, and the lower cover of vol.V.
