London: 1828-1830. Volumes LV-LVII, 8vo (230 x 145 mm). 248 hand-colored engraved plates (40 folding) by Swan, after Hooker, Rev. L. Guilding, Dr. Greville, J. McNab and others. Contemporary half green straight-grained morocco over marbled paper-covered boards, marbled endpapers. Condition: occasional light spotting; light scuffing to extremities, one free endpaper excised. Provenance: Lynn Abbott Trust. A fine selection of botanical plates from Curtis's work, at a time when an increasing number of new and exotic species from remote parts of the world were being cultivated in England. (3)
