Paris: chez Perlet, [1806-]1807. 24 plates, printed in colors and finished by hand, after Prêtre (23) and Mlle. Josephine Prêtre (1). The 2 works in two volumes, small 8vo (194 x 120 mm). Uniform marbled calf, covers with gilt tooled border, flat spines gilt with red morocco labels, gilt turn ins, g.e. Condition: the first work without the12 folding leaves of engraved music, general toning and occasional heavier spotting; rebacked old spines laid down. Provenance: Lynn Abbott Trust. a charming pair of complimentary works often found bound together. The plates are spectacular examples of the botanical artist's work in miniature, printed in colours using the "á la poupée" technique developed by van Spaendonck, and Redouté.
