Civil War Union Documents
1864 Civil War Union Furlough Related Documents February-April, 1864, Lot of 4 Civil War Documents, Relating to a Recruiting Furlough in New York, Fine to Extremely Fine. The first of these documents is a preprinted Furlough Form which was filled out on February 6, 1864, granting a furlough to Sergeant A.C. Blackmore of the 64th Regiment New York Volunteers, for the purpose of recruiting men for his regiment in Cattaraugas County, NY. This recruiting duty is noted in a long notation on the back. This 10" x 7.75" document is in very nice condition, with a few of minor fold separations. A second partially printed document, 7.25" x 5," also dated February 6th, is a note from the Depot Quartermaster's Office in Elmira, N.Y. stating that they had provided Sergeant Blackmore with transportation. The third item is a handwritten letter from Sergeant Blackmore to his commanding officer, complaining that he had been personally charged for the transportation, which should have been official business. This letter is dated April 21, 1864, but the postmark on its envelope is April 30, 1864. A great group of related Civil War documents. (4 items).
