1865 Lincoln High Relief Plaster Bust by J. Powell 1865, Abraham Lincoln Mourning Portrait, High Relief Plaster, Signed by J. Powell, Extremely Fine. This high relief plaster portrait of Lincoln has the artist's name and the patent date, 1865, on the truncation of Lincoln's shoulder. The portrait is set in a bowl-shaped, iron background painted navy blue. All of this is covered by a rounded, clear glass cover, and set in a round black frame with gold decoration. This whole assembly appears to be original, with the frame having suffered some chipping over the years. The portrait and the glass covering it are in excellent condition, with some silvering remaining in Lincoln's hair and beard, and on some of the folds of his clothing. A spectacular tribute to Lincoln, which a little restoration work would make into a Museum Quality piece. Early American will accept payment by check or credit card.
